Members of the opposition in Papua New Guinea have boycotted a sitting of parliament scheduled to take place three weeks earlier than planned.
Parliament was adjourned on 29 July shortly after the opposition attempted to pass a vote of no confidence in the government of Sir Michael Somare. However, Sir Michael has recalled the parliament to sit on 20 October in a move the opposition has described as "illegal".
