Top UN crisis official backs Samoa PM in rebuilding higher

Not long after the water subsided from the tsunami-hit Samoas and Tonga a couple of weeks ago, the head of the United Nations Development Program's Bureau of Crisis Prevention and Recovery toured the region.
The Director of the UNDP's Bureau for Crisis Prevention and Recovery, Jordan Ryan, has been reported as saying that if buildings on the islands were built higher uphill during the rebuilding process, they will be at less risk during future disasters. This is just what the Samoan Prime Minister, Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi, told Pacific Beat yesterday.
