Dame Carol Kidu discusses PNG child protection issues

Papua New Guinea's Minister for Social Development, Dame Carol Kidu, says she's planning to hold a workshop to develop a Declaration on the Rights of the Melanesian Child -- an addition to the Universal Declaration on the Rights of the Child. She says it should enshrine as rights such traditions as growing up in an extended family. Dame Carol is in Canberra, where's she's attended the opening of an exhibition of photographs by 49 Papua New Guinean and Australian children.
