Vanuatu cellphone births and deaths registration
Updated
Vanuatu has started using mobile phone technology to register births and deaths in the country. Under the scheme, people in rural areas would use mobile phones provided at schools and clinics to text-in births and deaths in communities. Acting director of Civil Status Department, Joe-Johnson Yati, says this information would be texted directly to the main registry of records. He says the manual registration of births and deaths has not been reliable.
