CNMI elections this weekend
Updated
Two things set this weekend's elections in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands apart from previous polls. One is the fact that the U-S take over of the Islands' immigration system at the end of the month has dominated the political debate. And the second is that for the first time in history, two of the pairings competing for the positions of governor and lieutenant governor will face a run-off election unless they secure more than half the votes in the first round.
Presenter: Helene Hofman
Speakers: Sam McPhetres, instructor in Social Science at the Northern Marianas College; Robert Guerrero, executive director of the CNMI Election Commission
