Guam unhappy with US fund use to cover shortfall
Updated
Guam's Governor Felix Camacho has criticised the US Department of the Interior for deciding to use 2010 Compact Funds to cover a funding shortfall without consulting him. The Assistant Secretary of the Interior for Insular Affairs and one of the highest ranking Pacific Islanders in President Barack Obama's administration, Tony Babauta, says the borrowed funds would keep federally-supported educators from temporarily losing their jobs.
But it has provoked outrage within the Governor's office, with Governor Camacho saying they were hoping to find a local solution to the problem.
