New government lineup sits in Vanuatu's parliament
Updated
Vanuatu's parliament has commenced its latest sitting with a new government lineup. Last week Prime Minister Edward Natapei expelled three political parties despite them being members of his government coalition. Replacing them is the alliance of opposition political parties and independents, which has pledged its support in return for seats in cabinet and the Deputy Prime Minister's position. Amongst those removed is former Prime Minister Ham Lini, who is now the leader of Vanuatu's opposition. So far parliament has been peaceful although Mr Natapei still faces a no confidence motion.
