Australian cane toad sneaks into New Zealand

A cane toad has managed to get past New Zealand's strict border security by hitching a ride across the Tasman with an unsuspecting tourist from Cairns. The creature had crawled inside a woman's hiking boot, which were checked over and scrubbed with detergent at the Queenstown airport. But the quarantine officers failed to notice the socks stuffed inside which provided the perfect cover.

Noel Saxon is the manager of Ultimate Hikes in Queenstown, where the cane toad made a break for it.
