Fiji out of Commonwealth Games

Fiji has been kept out of next year's Commonwealth Games in India. Commonwealth leaders meeting in Trinidad and Tobago have rejected an appeal for Fiji to take part. The bid was made by Malaysia but did not have any other support. Leaders defended their decision to suspend Fiji from the games, saying sporting ties are inseparable from the values of the association. New Zealands's prime minister was outspoken against the proposal. Fiji's bid, "Let Fiji Play", was based on separating sport from politics - Fiji's Association of Sport and National Olympic Committee president Vidhya Lakhan spoke to Tanya O'Shea
