The Australian government, Cricket Australia and the International Cricket Council is to distribute $1.6 million worth of support over four years in cricket development to initially focus on Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Vanuatu, Samoa and Solomon Islands.

It's part of a larger sporting package announced last year when the Australian prime minister announced $26 million in sports-related assistance to Pacific countries at the Pacific Islands Forum in August 2009.
