PNG targets immunisation for measles elimation by 2012

The motality rate of children under five years-of-age in Papua New Guinea is the highest in the Western Pacific region. Forty per cent of the overall population are still not immunised against preventable childhood diseases such as measles and hooping cough.
The Health Department is working to improve the immunisation program to help eliminate measles from PNG by 2012. Dr William Lagani says there are numerous reasons for the poor coverage.
