Regional NGO group gets support despite huge debt

The Pacific Islands Association of Non Government Organisations, PIANGO, has been given the support of its members despite incurring massive debts. Last year New Zealand withdrew financial support from the group, after an audit identified mismanagement - that had resulted in debts of nearly $US0.5 million. At a meeting in Fiji last week, PIANGO's NGO members heard the scale of the debt, but decided to continue supporting the organisation as their region-wide representative.
