PNG begins work on organising 2015 Pacific Games

Papua New Guinea has established a Pacific Games Authority to oversee the organisation of the 2015 Pacific Games. The Government has committed to underwrite the costs of the Games and has already authorised 250 million kina ($US94 million). A multipurpose national stadium will be built as well as an indoor sports complex. PNG secured the rights to host the 15th Pacific Games in September, making it the third occasion on which the country has hosted, following earlier Games in 1969 and 1991.
