Indonesia's President asked to back Papua mediation

Updated March 12, 2010 18:02:15

The International Crisis Group has called on Indonesia's President to get fully behind a mediation effort for Papua and West Papua that's being conducted through the Indonesian Institute of Sciences. The non-government conflict prevention body says if Indonesia doesn't want Papua to draw ever-greater international concern, Jakarta needs to engage and side with forces that want a solution. The report is entitled "Radicalisation and Dialogue in Papua." Linda Mottram spoke to the Crisis Group's Jakarta-based South East Asia project director, Jim Della-Giacoma.
