Simbu students flee PNG's Lae Unitech

One student is dead and two others have been hospitalised in following an ethnic clash between students from two provinces at PNG's Lae University of Technology in the Morobe province. The fight started between students from Simbu and East Sepik provinces. University authorities say there was a peace and reconciliation ceremony but other students restarted the fight last Thursday, when a First Year Engineering student was allegedly stabbed to death. Meanwhile, Lae Metropolitan Police Commandeer Superintendent Nema Mondiai says the situation at the University is quiet but tense. He says students from Simbu have fled back to their province in fear for their lives.
