Fiji focus on development, away from charity for civil service

A conference for civil society organisations in Fiji heard last week that leadership is the key to economic recovery.

The conference supported by AusAID and the Fiji Council of Social Services was to help civil service groups back onto a path of financial sustainability, development, and away from charity.

The Australian High Commission's First Secretary for Development Cooperation Jacqueline Clark says it is effective leadership that defined an organisation's ability to move forward.

Hassan Khan, Fiji Council Of Social Services' executive director also saw the conference as a good opportunity to talk about encouraging development.
