Pacific social media a tool for change in Papua New Guinea

Social media has enjoyed a huge growth in the past couple of years in Papua New Guinea and is emerging as powerful tool for political and social change.

 

PNG Journalist and blogger Alexander Rheeney, intern at the Lowy Institute for International Policy,  says  Papua New Guineans have enthusiastically embraced social media since 2010 but  politicians are lagging behind.

 
He told Isabelle Genoux, the challenge is for them to connect with their constituents using social media or face being out of touch.
