Push for Presidential Library in Hawaii

Updated 19 July 2012, 10:48 AEST

Hawaii hopes to win the right to host a presidential library named after Barack Obama.

Reed Dasenbrock, the University of Hawaii's vice chancellor of academic affairs, is leading a team of faculty members who have been preparing a campaign for years to get the library built in Hawaii.

They've got Honululu City Council and Governor Neil Abercrombie onboard, and have already fired a shot at their main rival and Mr Obama's adopted home, the city of Chicago.

Just like Mr Obama's 2008 presential campaign, the Hawaiian team says it is more organised than its rival.
