The Pacific Islands News Association will stay in Fiji, despite a call by one of the organisation's founders that it ought to leave. Media Association of Solomon Islands president, John Lamani, who edits the Solomon Star newspaper, says PINA must send a clear message against the human rights situation in Fiji by moving PINA and its regional news agency, Pacnews, to a safer media environment. He suggests Solomon Islands. But PINA President Joseph Ealedona, who is also CEO of PNG's National Broadcasting Corporation, says the work PINA does in promoting media freedom makes it even more important that it remain where it is.
