Britain worried about Pacific meeting Development Goals

Last week in its annual budget, the Australian government, earmarked a large amount of its its overseas aid spending to assist Pacific Island nations meet the millenium development goals set by the United Nations. The goals' purpose are to creat standards for issues like education, health and care, amongst many other things, and this year marks the halfway point for when they are supposed to be achieved in 2015. But there are serious doubts the poorer nations of the world, which includes many in the South Pacific, will not meet them. Australia is one of the country's with those doubts, but they are shared by the United Kingdom.
