The French branch of the conservation organisatuon the World Wildlife Fund, has announced the creation of an initiative dedicated to helping protect nature in France's overseas territories. These include New Caledonia, French Polynesia and Wallis and Futuna. The WWF says people should not expect government funding alone to be enough to protect biodiversity.
