Former Vietnam prime minister dies

A former prime minister of Vietnam, Vo Van Kiet, has died of pneumonia in Singapore at the age of 85.

During his years in the Politburo in the 1980s, and as prime minister from 1991 to 1997, he was considered a major force behind the economic reforms that helped pull Vietnam back from poverty and hunger. Vo Van Kiet also strengthened foreign ties with countries like the US and Singapore.
