Indonesian children put in care to access education
Updated
A report into Indonesian childcare institutions has found that as many as half a million children are living in privately run children's homes because their parents cannot afford to send them to school.
The report, produced by the British based NGO Save the Children in partnership with the Indonesian government and Unicef, revealed a disturbing culture where by placing children in care is for many parents the easiest way to access welfare and a decent education.
