Row in PNG Parliament over Ombudsman Commission

There were calls in PNG's parliament today to do away with the Ombudsman Commission.The Commission was attacked in Parliament by the prime minister Sir Michael Somare after it called for an investigation into his failure to submit annual statments as required by the leadership code. The Parliament then erupted into hot debate as Sir Michael was accused of abusing his parliamentary priviledge to debate the issue. The country's public prosecutor is investigating Sir Michael for alleged breaches of the leadership code.
