Western Province supports Solomons reaffirmation ceremony

RAThe Premier of Solomon Islands' Western Province, Alex Lokopio says he fully supported this week's ceremony in Honiara to reaffirm the country's commitment to peace and unity. Solomon Islands is still going through a peace process after the ethnic conflict between the people of Malaita and Guadalcanal provinces which almost split up the country. Premier Lokopio says while a lot still needs to be done, the Reaffirmation Ceremony was a good start to national reconciliation. He also praised the Malaita Premier for attending the ceremony despite pressure by members of the former Malaitan militant group for him not to attend.
