Palau residents help track fish and coral
Updated
The people of Palau are being trained to help international scientists track fish and coral species in Micronesia. The novel solution to the problem of monitoring fish and coral species has been developed by the International Coral Reef Centre in Palau. The Centre's scientists are training NGOs, local government officials and fishing communities to identify individual species, take samples and run experiments. They then feed their data back to the global scientific community. It's being done with help from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in the United States.
