Singapore ups transplant age limit
Updated
Singapore's government plans to amend the Human Organ Transplant Act, to allow more people to have transplants.
This includes changing the age limit of sixty years for deceased donors, and helping to match living persons who wish to donate a kidney to a family member, but cannot do so, because of incompatible tissue, with others facing the same dilemma. The Health minister Khaw Boon Wan, addressing parliament this week, did not rule out legalising kidney trading, but admitted it was an area fraught with moral and ethical concerns.
