Cabinet still undecided on water tax

Fiji's interim government decided at today's Cabinet meeting to officially repeal the 20 cent per litre export tax on bottled water. Upset at Finance Minister Mahendra Chaudhry's export tax the water bottle operators stopped work and threatend to take the interim government to court. The water operators feared the new taxes would lead to the collapse of their industry and the loss of hundreds of jobs. They have now dropped the case.
