Scientists call them "hot stains" those parts of the world that are running out of clean water.
They now include northern China, large parts of Asia and, after five years of the most severe drought in its history, Australia. Thanks to pollution, climate change and a surging world population, water will be the oil of the 21st century and the right of the world's poorest people to access fresh, clean water is being further threatened by the global drive towards privatisation.
