Solomons murder not related to ethnic tensions

Solomon Islands police say the stabbing death of a Guadalcanal man at the Honiara Central Market last weekend had nothing to do with ethnic tension. Five years of ethnic conflict in the country between the people of Malaita and Guadalcanal ended when the Regional Assistance Mission intervened in 2003. Acting Police Commissioner, Walter Kola says however that last Saturday's murder was an isolated incident. He says they know the identity of the perpetrator and he will be arrested soon. Mr Kola says while incidences of murder have not increased, other violent crimes such as armed robbery are on the rise.
