New games records have been set by New Caledonia's Lara Grangeon and by the country's men's four.

New Caledonians swim into top form

The New Caledonian swim team has swum itself back into top form on night two of the South Pacific Games finals in Apia.

Tuvalu on the scoreboard

Day Two of competition is underway at the 13th South Pacific Games in Apia, Samoa.

As Tanya O'Shea reports from Apia, the Pacific Island nation of Tuvalu has won its first Pacific medal at an international meet.

Logona Esau claimed the silver medal in the men's 68kg clean and jerk weightlifting division.

Logona Esau won Tuvalu's first international medal in Palau at the South Pacific mini-games in 2005.

He won bronze there and stepped up to the next level in Samoa.

Ahead in the games today: Baseball, beach volleyball, cricket, soccer, hockey, judo, lawnbowls, netball, sailing, shooting, squash and, for the first time at the games, surfing.

Over at the Faleata Sports complex more gold medals will be decided this afternoon in the weightlifting, judo and swimming.
