Shortwave Radio

To listen to our shortwave signal, you need a shortwave radio. We are not able to recommend particular brands. Shortwave broadcasts are of a short duration, generally less than three hours.

Radio Australia's shortwave signals are tailored to be heard at peak audience times in our target areas of Asia and the Pacific. If you live in another area, our frequencies and broadcast times may not be suitable.

Shortwave signals may be weaker than AM signals and may be subject to interference from other broadcasters' signals. Shortwave signals may also be affected by electronic devices such as computers, microwave ovens, TVs, car engines and fluorescent lights. An outside antenna may improve your reception.

There may be more than one frequency on which you can hear Radio Australia at any particular time. You will need to adjust your receiver to receive the best frequency for your location at the time you want to listen.
